What can you do to help prevent home break-ins?
- Get to know your neighbors
- Motion detectors and well lit perimeter
- Dawn to dusk lights in front and back or side porch
- Trim any overgrown bushes
- Don’t have a regular schedule if possible come and go at random times. Leave early for work sometimes.
- Don’t throw packages out for new tv or computer equipment. Break the boxes and put them i the trash.
- Put a lock on your mailbox and on electrical panel
- Use both wired and wireless cameras
- Don’t leave a spare key under the mat
- Use a biometric lock
- Put a pool noodle on your garage release so no one can break into garage
- Motion detectors on windows and interior doors will go off if glass is broken
- Have a neighborhood watch
- Don’t leave mail on the ground
- Don’t advertise on social media that your on vacation ..post pictures when you get back
- Hire a house sitter if you’re leaving for an extended period of time.
- Use a pin bolt on patio doors so the door can’t be lifted off the track
- Lock side gates and fences
