Hi All,Thank you for sending letters to our LA Delegation. It is not too late to send one if you haven’t done so yet. The importance of sending this letter is to defeat bad bills which can only happen if our legislators feel there is strong opposition to them. Please don’t skip this opportunity to be heard.

We would like to add one more bill to oppose – SB 1361. You can copy and paste the paragraph below onto our “click and send” letter after the AB 1751 entry. Just copy and paste to the letter.
SB 1361: Oppose
California Senate Bill 1361 represents the erosion of local control that threatens community safety, infrastructure integrity, and municipal transparency. By prohibiting local governments from requesting transit modifications such as route adjustments, service frequency changes, or stop relocations if those requests intersect with state-mandated housing density rules, SB 1361 effectively gag-orders city officials. Land-use and regional transportation decisions cannot be artificially separated by Sacramento mandates. SB 1361 is a reckless override of local authority that replaces collaborative regional planning with statutory coercion and likely violates the First Amendment.Missing Middle Ordinance:
We have met with the Planning Department regarding The Missing Middle Ordinance. We came away realizing this ordinance is being rushed needlessly. There is no mandate for this ordinance. We asked Planning to take their time to do this right.

While framing the ordinance as a solution to LA”s housing shortage, its incentives are structured to encourage density well beyond state requirements while giving little back to communities. Planning wants to build on State housing laws, expand homeownership opportunities, and improve local outcomes through better design, historic preservation, and tree protection. We fully support these objectives. However, the ordinance is missing one critical element: genuine concern for the residents who already live in these neighborhoods.
We think that makes no sense. The city needs to better protect our neighborhoods while more housing is being granted.
