The Planning Department informed us this morning that the Letter of Determination that stated Exhibit D was “recommended” by the Commission, has been changed to read Exhibit D as “modified and included in the Staff Recommendation Report”. updated transmittal

The Planning Department explained that the Staff Report on Draft #3 does not recommend upzoning single family zones but exhibit D must be included in the whole report.

We will stay vigilant to see whether the Planning Department presents Draft #3 without “options” as they recommend in their staff report to the PLUM committee. They have stated clearly that there is enough capacity to meet the state housing mandate and to meet the requirements of Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing.

We wanted the language on the Letter of Determination corrected because that mattered. But as you can all see, Planning is being very strategic in how it presents this draft ordinance. We don’t want them to slip single-family neighborhoods in without this being fully vetted by the public. Stay tuned.
