First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving to ALL.
Being that the Annual South Shores Community Association (SSCA) Members-Only Reception was such a success, plans are now underway for our next Annual SSCA Meeting. The tentative date is Tuesday, March 21, 2023. In addition, preliminary plans and negotiations are underway to hold the SSCA Members-Only Reception at the Elks Club once again — stay tuned.
After nine months and six meetings, progress has come to fruition at Royal Palms. Several of the corrective actions have been implemented with what appears to be a safer, disciplined, and better patrolled area. Let’s see what the spring and summer of 2023 brings.
Some upcoming events to be recognized: The Annual D’Amico Realty “Toys for Tots” supporting the United States Marine Corp. is scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd, from noon to 4pm at The Peninsula Center, followed by the First Annual South Shores Toy and Canned Food Drive on Sunday, December 4th, sponsored by Harper & Hazdovac Realty, from noon to 3pm, at the South Shores Magnet Elementary School.
Congratulations go out to Tim McOsker in a winning effort, becoming Councilman of the 15th District. Tim succeeds our South Shores neighbor and friend Joe Buscaino who served our area for 14 years.
The Sociables, under the leadership of Anita Manilla, continues to grow and is now at 24 members actively getting out and holding low key social activities. The Sidewalk Brigade, with Gordon Thomas at the helm, is embarking on more of a maintenance mode now that much of the heavy lifting has been done, as well as, collaborating with other groups in our area improving the “eye appeal” of South Shores.
Please be advised that SSCA will once again be rewarding three lucky South Shores residents in the Third Annual Holiday Decoration Contest. Stay tuned for further details on the SSCA website.
The SSCA annual membership drive is set to kick off mid-January, invoicing all known and active members. The 2023 membership donation remains the same at $20.00 for the year. The SSCA year begins January 01, through December 31 of that ensuing calendar year. For those of you who want to get a jump on membership, please visit our Become A Member page.
