SIDEWALK BRIGADE VOLUNTEERS

10/17/2025- A few dedicated Brigade volunteers joined together to clean up an area on Cumbre Dr nicknamed “The Cumbre Lookout”. The area was cleared, weed abatement cloth installed, and lots of mulch put down to minimize weed growth.

Drought resistant plants were donated and the mulch came from N. Gaffey recycling site. The hope is that this area will remain a visually pleasant location requiring minimal or no effort to maintain for all neighbors to enjoy. Thank you to all the volunteers who’s hard work made this happen.

5/8/2025- A few dedicated Brigade volunteers joined together to clean up an area near 25th Street and Anchovy Ave. Thank you, job well done.

12/1/2024 – Thank you to the City of LA and our industrious neighbors who took the time to help clear overgrown vegitation.

8-22-2024 – A team of enthusiastic volunteers showed up to clear the sidewalk along Anchovy Ave.  Work was completed in 2 hours, just before the sun got too hot. Well done team.

3-10-2024 – Work continues on Western Ave. by 9th Street. Thank you to the dedicated neighbors with a passion to get this stretch of road looking good. With this section done, this crew has cleaned up about 80% of the curb strip along Western Ave.

2-25-2024 – Section of Mermaid Ave. was almost unusable until the Sidewalk Brigade volunteers took action. Thank you for making our sidewalks better.

11-2023 – Thoughful and caring folks doing their part to keep Western Ave. looking good.

10-8-2023 – The Bridgade was back at it this morning on a section of 25th Street near Anchovy Ave. This selfless action of giving back to the neighborhood by taking the time to clean up and beautify an area, not only benefits our community but also continues to demonstrate how our residences care about each other and our community.

Your local South Shores Sidewalk Brigade recently went to work in September on the corner of Mermaid Ave & Amirante Dr. to clean up the fallen leaves & debris that collects in this area. The sidewalk is now clean and safe to walk on. Thanks to all that helped make this happen.
