I hope you all enjoyed the Holiday Season and continue to do so by being diligent, safety conscious, health aware, and having a GREAT time.

Plans are now in place to have the Annual SSCA Members Meeting at the Elks Club on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Plans also continue to hold the SSCA Members-Only Reception at the Elks Club once again; stay tuned.

Throughout the Holiday Season, relative calmness has prevailed at Royal Palms. Let’s see what the Spring and Summer of 2023 brings, next planned meeting is slated for mid-January.

By all indications, both The Annual D’Amico Realty “Toys for Tots” supporting the United States Marine Corp. and Annual South Shores Toy and Canned Food Drive sponsored by Harper & Hazdovac Realty were successful. Thank you for all who participated.

Both the South Shores Sociables and Sidewalk Brigade took a holiday break but will resume activity in January.

This year, so many neighbors participated in the Annual Holiday Decoration Contest that the selection of the final winners was a difficult task. However, listed below and the winners pictures on our website are:

  1. First Place – 1944 W. 26th Street
  2. Second Place – 1806 Vallecito Dr.
  3. Third Place was a tie – 1815 Grenadier Dr. and 1810 W. 27th Street

A BIG “Thank you” to all judges, participants and neighbors for helping South Shores shine so bright.

I had the pleasure of attending the swearing in ceremony of our new Councilman Tim McOsker. From all indications, voters made the correct choice. Let’s hope and pray that Councilman McOsker’s deeds, actions, promises and commitment exceed expectations. The Councilman’s slogan of “STRONGER TOGETHER” rings as a positive message, especially during this holiday season.

On a sad note, long time member and former President of the South Shores Community Association Noah Modisett passed away on December 22nd.  Noah was well known for always picking up garbage and other debris left on Cumbre and Bogdanovich Park. Noah was a true patriot – retired Colonel US Army. Noah will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

The SSCA annual membership drive is now in full swing, invoices for 2023 are being sent out mid-January, invoicing all known and active members. The 2023 Membership donation remains the same at $20.00 for the year. The SSCA year is January 01 through December 31 of that ensuing calendar year.  For those of you who want to get a jump on membership, see our Become a Member page.
